All I want for Christmas…

Well, the answer is beer and cider and here’s why…

The holiday period is known for festive wines and luxurious spirits; meanwhile, beers and ciders get relegated to the bottom of the seasonal booze hierarchy. Instead of celebrating with a pint, people prefer to pop a cork or sip on an Eggnog. However, we should be inviting beer and cider into the Christmas conversation.

Beer and cider are versatile brews with the capacity to evolve past the generic brands and styles. Lovers of the drinks are expanding beyond the classic, traditional horizons and local breweries are becoming more populated due to their craft variations. We should be welcoming all kinds of beer and cider to our festive tables. Did you know that Queen Elizabeth I was a devote ale drinker, especially at celebrations, and could reportedly outdrink any man in her court – let’s follow in the footsteps of royalty and get our pint-drinking hats on.

When enjoying buffet nibbles or aperitif canapés, a pale ale has the perfect amount bubbles to liven up your palate, just as well as any sparkling wine would. The fresh acidity and fruit-forward flavours are ideal for supporting the variation in tastes on the table in front of you. Why not try Brixton Atlantic Pale Ale this Christmas? This American-style pale ale is a great thirst-quenching beverage that will please anyone’s tastebuds.

Christmas is not the only day of celebration this season.

There are plenty of national days to entice customers back to beer and cider. A go-to choice is Guinness. This classic, snowy-topped Irish drink warms the cockles of your soul and has many drinkers coming back for more. With advancements in technology, Guinness now offer Guinness Surger and Guinness Micro Draught for the same delicious pour with a smaller font, making it more convenient than ever. Lagers such as BrewDog’s Lost Lager, Asahi Super Dry and Meantime’s London Lager are all party favourites and worth a try.

Nobody should go without the perfect pint for Christmas. For drivers and non-drinkers, there are some fantastic alternatives on the market that offer 0% alcohol, but deliver on great taste. Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% offers the same experience and taste of this Italian classic with no alcohol. For the cider drinkers, Old Mout Berries & Cherries Non-Alcoholic is a light, sparkling blend of strawberries and raspberries. Perfect for a cheers at the end of the evening.

Let’s drink and be merry this holiday… with a pint in our hand and a cracker in the other.
