Ready to try something a little different?

Birra Ichnusa, or simply Ichnusa, is the name of a popular Sardinian-made beer, which is brewed in Assemini, a town near the Sardinian capital Cagliari. It is named after the Latinized ancient name for Sardinia, Hyknusa.

Amsicora Capra was a respected winemaker and entrepreneur who decided to embark on a mission to craft the perfect beer for the people of his beloved island of Cagliari. Birra Ichnusa was his proud creation! Yet, soon after, Capra had to discontinue production as the world went to war. 30 years later, in 1945, he triumphantly reopened the brewery and Ichnusa thrived, becoming a symbol of the island’s renewed well-being. Ichnusa has been the essence of Sardinian Soul ever since. In 1967 the brewery was finally moved to Assemini and in 1981 more than 400,000 litres of beer was brewed. In 1986 the brewery was taken over by Heineken International.

Birra Ichnusa is a lager (5.0% ABV) with a hoppy taste. Quality Sardinian pale lager with a balanced taste, light colour, a discreet aroma and pleasantly bitter note. Moderately crisp and refreshing, it has a persistent tight foam, fine grain and leaves a light pleasant scent of hops. Ideal for your Italian Aperitivo.

A golden lager with a hoppy but moderately bitter taste, synonymous with Sardinia since 1912.
